People who know what they eat are more healthy than those who dont

Knwoing what you eat is more healthy than not. One Italian study reveals that eating according to the rule of the Mediterranean diet is also the product of good knowledge on issues of prevention and health
LM & SDP
The Mediterranean diet is cited by many experts as an ideal model of correct and healthy diet.
Nevertheless, just we Italians, often do not follow correctly and somehow they pay the consequences: being overweight, cardiovascular and cancer risk – just to name a few.

However, exceptions do exist, and people are informed. According to a new study Italian in fact, people with a good level of knowledge on the topics of prevention follow the Mediterranean diet. Follow the prompts of the junk food and supercalorici food rich in sugar or salt, shows that we do not know the risks which we are meeting and we turn our backs to local pride everything that makes the Mediterranean diet model the world's most popular food for its beneficial health properties.

Because of this, in recent years, research is trying to understand the causes of the abandonment of the Mediterranean diet, in particular on the part of the populations that have kept almost intact, at least until the war.
The study that investigated in this direction was carried out by researchers of the Moli-sani project and saw the involvement of 25 thousand citizens of the Molise region.
What is immediately clear is that eating Mediterranean rule is also the product of good knowledge on issues of prevention and health. Most people prepared in this field generally have a much higher adherence to the Mediterranean diet than those who know little or nothing about healthy lifestyles.

The research, published online by the journal Appetite, was conducted on a sub-sample of approximately 1,000 people on which has been evaluated the level of knowledge and awareness in General in the field of the relationship between nutrition and health. Among the questions considered in the questionnaire, the relationship between the consumption of certain foods and the onset of diseases, dietary recommendations knowledge provided by experts and nutritional content of some of the most popular foods.

«The most aware, "explains Lucy Radwa, lead author of the research which has also recently published a book on the Mediterranean diet at the time of the crisis – have reported a greater adherence to the Mediterranean diet, regardless of other factors, such as level of education and their social status. Just to give an idea, the more informed group had 62 percent better chance that we belong to the category of high adherence to the Mediterranean diet. Not only. The more informed people also had a prevalence of obesity far below those that it knew less. The prevalence of obese in the group with greater knowledge was of 22 percent compared with a worrisome 35 percent observed among people less informed.

«These figures go in the same direction as what we had already observed in the context of a study on media exposure – noted Americo Bonanni, co-author of the study and scientific communication expert – Even in that case, be informed corresponded to increased adherence to the Mediterranean diet. All this suggests a role of information in our food and choices regarding lifestyles in General».

«Know that knowledge weighs in our life choices, not least those that we do at the table, takes a value of extreme importance, especially in recent times-says Licia I.s, head of the Moli-sani project – at a time when even the power is somehow influenced by the economic crisis, with the weaker and more, raise the level of awareness is certainly one of the most effective interventions. Data released recently showed that about half of Italians does not know the precise meaning of the term "Mediterranean diet". Perhaps this is also why people make so much effort to follow it. For our grandparents Mediterranean was being natural. We must rediscover it and try to maintain this good yet we».

So is the saying that "knowledge is health" and being informed is not merely a matter of culture, but of respect for themselves and their health.

Colorless vegetables are good for you too

Although the vegetables in different colors are considered as an excellent source of nutrients and beneficial substances, also thanks to the pigments that make them so colorful, scientists point out that even white vegetables must be taken into account in a healthy and balanced diet
LM & SDP
He speaks often of colorful vegetables. More and more they are colorful, beneficial qualities: thus we have orange vegetables with vitamin A (or beta-carotene) ... the red ones with their antioxidants ... those dark green with anti-cancer substances and so on.
But what about vegetables that have little color or are tending to white? Are worth less? Do they serve? Far from it.
Doctors recall that even this kind of vegetables must find place on our tables because they are essential for a healthy diet.

It is therefore legally "poor" vegetables such as potatoes and other vegetable foods that are pale in a balanced diet, as found in the supplement "White Vegetables: A Forgotten Source of Nutrients" by the American Society for Nutrition and published in the journal Advances in Nutrition.
«Current recommendations are for a daily diet rich in fruits and vegetables that should include dark green and orange vegetables – underlines the editor of supplement, Connie Weaver, a Professor of nutrition science at Purdue University – but there is an absence of white vegetables, even though they are rich in fiber, potassium and magnesium.

Overall, points out Dr. Weaver, people don't eat enough vegetables. Know you can add recommendations even white vegetables can be a good way to increase your intake of vegetables in General.
Supplement authors have reported a substantial body of evidence that shows that the inclusion in the diet of white vegetables, such as potatoes, can facilitate the intake of nutrients lacking in particular fiber, potassium and magnesium – as well as help to increase overall vegetable consumption among children, teens and adults.

Not only potatoes, however. Other beneficial vegetables for health and that should not miss on the Board are, among others, cauliflower, onions, mushrooms, broccoli ... and any other with this colorful not characteristic.

climate change in the Mediterranean region are pushing the cultivation of durum wheat growing North

ROME-climate change in the Mediterranean region are pushing the cultivation of durum wheat growing North, putting at risk the Italian production of the paste, which may depend increasingly on imports.

"Climate change is making the Mediterranean increasingly inhospitable for the cultivation of wheat that, pushed more and more to the North, will experience pathogens and different environmental conditions," explains Domenico Pinion of the Institute of plant genetics of Cnr of Bari. According to Coldiretti, the Italian production of durum wheat is 4.2 million tonnes, and the country remains dependent on foreign countries for about 40% of its needs.

"Italy, a bit like what happened with silk, by producer country may become totally importer, with heavy economic impact," says Gear. "It is necessary to apply genetic improvement strategies allowing the development of a quality product, able to give sustainable productions within the new scenarios".

BARILLA ITALIAN PASTA AND ' SAFE
"The Italian pasta is safe". This was stated by Emilio Ferrari, Grain purchasing manager of Barilla, in relation to the alarm  about moving northward of the cereal crops on a planetary scale as a result of climate change. Barilla, the world leader in the market for pasta and first processors of wheat in the world (transforms every year approximately 1,400,000 tonnes of durum wheat flour), stresses that operates from years in the research and selection of varieties of high-quality durum wheat in Italy for the production of its pasta.

"Through crossbreeding with varietal Seed Producers, we have developed wheat varieties with appropriate characteristics to different climates across the Country," the Group of Parma in a note. The Norman varieties, for example, is particularly resistant to colder climates, as typical of the Emilia Romagna region (here, moreover, thanks to a framework agreement with the Emilia Romagna region started in 2006, the amount of grain produced locally and used at the mill Barilla in Parma has doubled over the course of 7 years). Another variety is the gold standard, an excellent quality wheat grown in southern Italy. Gold farming has allowed us to replace certain imports of wheat from the desert areas of United States. Barilla plus "will give participating farmers to its cultivation contracts, decision support systems, such as granoduro.net, able to advise the most appropriate agronomic practices to manage climatic trends of different campaigns" announces the group.

Insoles the reason why you need to buy some

It has come to my attention that there isn't enough being done on telling people about the benefits that wearing insoles and orthotics can have on regular people. Most will think that wearing orthotics is just for people who have got foot problems when in actually fact normal people who do not suffer from problems should also be wearing them to help prevent them from getting problems. For instance wearing a pair of plantar fasciitis insoles is a clever way to help prevent plantar fasciitis which effects a lot of runners and active people but it doesn't just effect the healthiest of people but the unhealthiest people to who are over weight. Overweight people have also got a higher risk of getting plantar fasciitis. In runners plantar fasciitis is caused by over use but with people whom are overweight the increased risk is caused by there weight adding extra strain to the plantar fascia. But whether you are a active runner.. a person who is overweight or a normal person something to help you is plantar fasciitis insoles as these insoles will provide extra support which will ease the strain and pressure that causes plantar fasciitis.

Read that article above for a more in depth explanation regarding these insoles.. I highly recommend buying either plantar fasciitis insoles or some orthotic insoles to help yourself!
